Preliminary Project Description: This project includes two village schools. The first is Shree Gram Sewa Vidyapith Ma Vi School and the second is Shree Santi Devi Adharbhut School. Each of these schools serves nursery-level kids, yet they cannot afford a filter to clean their drinking water contaminated with dirt and bacteria. Shree Santi Devi Adharbhut School is located in the hot and humid Terai region, making the availability of clean drinking water for their young students even more critical. WIN plans on providing each school with a ceramic filter with steel jugs. Even though an electric RO filter would rid their water of impurities more effectively, the schools told us that in the long run, the constant need for maintenance and a stable supply of electricity leaves gravity-fed filtration to be the best possible solution for their specific situations.
